Hello and thank you for visiting my website~
I am excited to be in the this field. I am an experienced teacher and behavioral consultant and have been in the field for many years. I have seen many innovations in the field of Autism research and treatment. One of those innovations is the expansive use and application of Applied Behavior Analysis. I am excited to be able to share my background, experience and knowledge to enhance the collaborations between schools and families, teachers and students.
My journey as an educator in this field began in undergrad while attending Eastern Michigan University. I answered an ad for a home therapist position working one on one with a young boy recently diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD). Prior to answering and being hired for this position I had never worked with a child with Autism before and my only background with disabilities was growing up with a close friend with cerebral palsy. That experience over the course of 3 years changed my life. It was wonderful and challenging to see my student grow and also to develop such a close bond with his parents and siblings that I decided to devote my professional career and life to working with children and families living with Autism.
Over the years I have met dozens of children and professionals in the field. I have seen wonderful programs and schools grow and develop innovative programs and curriculum for children. I have also seen families struggle to gain services needed for their children. It is through my experiences in all avenues of teaching and direct service with children that I decided to begin consulting with schools and families. My goal is to work to assist schools and parents achieve and develop great programs and classrooms for children with Autism.
I have learned so much from every child and family with whom I have worked. Each child's unique gift has enhanced my life in so many ways that words cannot express the growth I have had as a person. I hope to give back the gifts that were so graciously given to me by every family who allowed me into their home and into their child's life by enhancing the lives of others one child at a time.
